Plastic optical brightener: Fluorescent brightener 184 (C.I. 184)

Fluorescent brightener 184 (C.I. 184)

Trade name: Oribrite optical brightener OB.

Foreign trade names: Uvitex OB (OB-C, OB-P) (CIBA), Whitex PNF (NSK).

Hue/Tone: blue.

Physicochemical properties: Oribrite OB(equivalent to Uvitex OB) is a pure optical brightener, used for various special purposes. It does not contain fillers, the appearance is light yellow to milky white powder, odorless, the melting point is 196~203℃, decomposition temperature is higher than 220℃, insoluble in water, soluble in various organic solvents.

Solubility (g/100mL solvent, 25℃):

The spectral maximum absorption wavelength is 375nm (ethanol), and the maximum fluorescence emission wavelength is 435nm.

Uvitex OB-C is 10% Uvitex OB blended with chalk and has a yellow powder appearance. It is mainly used for opaque PVC plastics.

Uvitex OB-P is 10% UvitexOB blended with the plasticizer dicyclohexyl phthalate. Appearance is yellow powder. it is mainly used for plasticized PVC.

Usage: This product can be used for whitening and brightening of thermoplastics, such as PVC, PF, PP, PS, ABS, SAN, SB, CA, PA, PMMA, etc. Excellent heat resistance and light resistance. It is also used for whitening or anti-counterfeiting marks of some fibers, paints, coatings, high-grade photographic papers and inks.

How to use: Fluorescent whitening agent OB is used for polymer whitening in each processing stage. The whitening agent OB is fully mixed with various plastic particles at 0.01%~0.05% of the weight of the plastic, and then the molding process can be carried out. For example, this product is added before extrusion of polyvinyl chloride, acetate fiber and triacetate fiber; polyester is dyed with virgin pulp or dry-blended with polypropylene masterbatch.

optical brightener ob can be used with dyes to produce special brightness, which is especially effective in color formulations.

Due to the small amount of fluorescent whitening agent added, it should be thoroughly dispersed throughout the polymer. If any UV absorber is added to the polymer, care should be taken to properly adjust the optimal amount of optical brightener ob.

Dosage:

PVC white is 0.01%~0.05%, transparent is 0.0001%~0.001%;

PS white is about 0.001%, transparent is 0.0001%~0.001%;

ABS natural color is 0.01%~0.05%, white is 0.01%~0.05%;

PE, PP are colorless 0.0005%~0.001%, white is 0.005%~0.05%.

The contents of the above aspects are for reference only, and the specific application needs to be tested before deciding. The optimal dosage of optical brightener OB depends on the compatibility between it and the polymer. Too high dosage of brightener will cause incompatibility and migration.
