Dosage of Optical brighteners in Plastics

The amount of optical brightener is usually expressed as a percentage relative to the mass of the plastics. It is related to chemical structure, degree of dispersion, and the nature of plasticizers or other additives in plastic formulations.

The dosage of Oribrite Optical brightener is generally 0.05%~0.1%.

For ultra-white plastics, the dosage can reach 0.5% or more;

For transparent plastics, the dosage is 1/100~1/10 of the above dosage.

Oriental Chemical suggests that the appropriate dosage should be determined through small sample tests to meet the application requirements. It is not that the more the amount of optical brightener, the better the whitening effect, but there is a certain concentration limit. Exceeding a certain limit, not only will there be no whitening effect, but even yellowing will occur. Excessive amount of optical brightener will also cause incompatibility, migration, and reduction of anti-aging properties.
